Three reasons that make this different.

Private: This is not Facebook and nor do we want to ever become a network for every Tom, Dick and Harry. We don't do any data mining and our logs are deleted on a regular basis (we do not like to store stuff for government or ad agencies). We do not want millions of users since we do not want to buy new servers every month. If you want to mingle with half a billion or more people ... please do go on to Facebook and mingle there.

Personal: This is for people who want to be just with their friends. Real friends and not the hundreds of dimwits who call themselves friends and are in reality just coworkers who you just add to not alienate them. To get in here you need to be invited by someone who is already here. You do not know anyone here - you do not get in. What's the point anyway, if you do not know anyone?

Pure: We do not pester you with silly games that steal your lifetime and other stuff that you did not sign up for in the first place.
